New to Fitness
12 WEEKS TO A FITNESS PROGRAM
The 12 weeks to personal fitness program is specially designed to help those who are new to fitness, or assist people who are recovering from illness or injury, and feel that they need to ease into a basic exercise routine.
Once in the program, you will meet with a YMCA Fitness Coach up to 4 times during this twelve-week period. Your coach will lead you through a basic exercise routine, answer your questions and keep you motivated. You will work out in an area separate from the regular Wellness Center so that you can have a comfortable environment to become familiar with the equipment. Participants begin with cardio exercise working in their target heart rate zone. Then you will begin the lower body circuit followed by the upper body circuit. By the end of the 4th week, you will be doing 30 minutes of cardio and a full body strength workout.
After twelve weeks, you will have formed a steady exercise habit and become more comfortable with a basic exercise routine. At that point, you’ll transition to the main Wellness Center to maintain your healthier lifestyle. Although the program lasts 12 weeks, our commitment to your health lasts a lifetime. 12 weeks to personal fitness will teach you the skills you need to create a safe and effective exercise routine. It’s the first step in achieving your personal fitness goals.
This program is available to YMCA members at no additional charge. Along with our other classes and programs, 12 weeks to personal fitness is part of the YMCA’s on-going commitment to building healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for all. |
